SHOESTRING RENTALS is a locally operated franchise, with branches in Picton and Wesport, and agents in Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. We can arrange drop offs in Blenheim and Greymouth for a small fee.
Started originally in Christchurch around 1991, the Nelson franchise has been operating since 2002 and has grown very quickly and now has a huge range of cars, station wagons, vans and coaches that are continually being updated.
VEHICLES
We are continually updating our cars and our Backpacker and Shoestring models range in age from 1995 to 1999. Sometimes some of our cars may be slightly older, particularly in peak times when we get short of cars and have to sub hire extra vehicles.
Our "Silver Fern" category cars vary in age from 1997 to 2007
We have a transport trailer available for hire as well.
We have vehicles for hire for the ski season at The Rainbow ski field and St Arnaud.
We operate from the Nelson airport and offer free pickup and delivery around the Nelson city area including the suburbs.
ONE WAY HIRES
We have a convenient system in place for early or late pickups from the airport outside of business hours.
One way hires can be arranged often at no additional cost with drop off destinations throughout the South Island.
A relocation fee may apply at peak times but most often not.
We have some agents in the North Island for your convenience as well.
INSURANCE
All cars are fully insured for drivers over 25 at the prices quoted on the vehicle pages with an insurance excess of $1,000 that can be reduced to $250 by paying an extra $10 per day on the hire.
For drivers 21-25 the excess is $2000.00
For drivers under 21 the excess is $3,000.00
We are a very friendly team and will do everything we can to make the hiring of your vehicle as easy as possible.
We have a large range of child seats available, as well as bike racks and snow chains.
